Why funding matters

At The Reflective Room, we support a range of funding and payment options to help make occupational therapy and reflective supervision more accessible. Below you’ll find how each funding pathway works and how we can help.

Funding options

Many clients choose to self-fund their sessions at The Reflective Room. This option offers the greatest flexibility and allows you to access services without the need for referrals, approvals, or third-party reporting requirements.

Self-funded sessions are paid for directly at the time of your appointment. You will receive an itemised invoice that can be used to claim rebates through private health insurance where applicable.

Self-funding may be suitable if you:

  • Prefer flexibility and autonomy in your care

  • Do not have access to funded supports

  • Wish to access services outside the scope of funded programs

Some occupational therapy services at The Reflective Room may be accessed using NDIS funding, where they align with your individual goals and plan supports.

NDIS funding is typically used under Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living supports. Clients may access services if they are self-managed or plan-managed, depending on current arrangements.

If you are unsure whether your plan can be used to fund services, I am happy to discuss your goals and how they may align with your NDIS supports. Clear, itemised invoices and documentation can be provided to assist with plan management and claims.

In some circumstances, services may be funded through third-party or workplace arrangements, such as:

  • Workers’ Compensation

  • Workplace or organisational wellbeing programs

  • Other approved third-party funding bodies

These arrangements usually require prior approval and specific documentation. Where appropriate, The Reflective Room can provide treatment plans, progress summaries, and invoices to support approved funding pathways.

If you believe your services may be covered under a third-party or workplace arrangement, please get in touch to discuss requirements before booking.

Clients with private health insurance may be eligible for rebates on occupational therapy services, depending on their level of cover and individual policy.

Private health rebates:

  • Vary between health funds and policies

  • Are typically claimed directly by the client

  • May have annual limits or session caps

Itemised invoices are provided after each session to support private health insurance claims. It is recommended that you check directly with your health fund prior to booking to confirm your eligibility and rebate amounts.

Funding - Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to access services?

No referral is required for self-funded services. Some funding options (such as private health insurance or third-party funding) may have their own requirements, so it’s best to check directly with your provider.

What if I’m not sure whether my NDIS plan covers these services?
Can you help me understand which funding option might be suitable for me?
What information will I receive for funding or rebate claims?

NDIS plans vary, and eligibility depends on your individual goals and funding categories. If you’re self-managed or plan-managed, we can discuss how occupational therapy services may align with your plan.

You will receive a clear, itemised invoice after each session, including provider details and service information required for private health, NDIS, or third-party claims.

Yes. If you’re unsure which funding pathway applies to your situation, I’m happy to have a conversation and help you explore your options.

If your funding situation changes, we can discuss alternative options, including self-funded sessions, to ensure continuity of care wherever possible.

If you have any questions about funding or would like to talk through your individual circumstances, please feel free to get in touch. I’m here to help make the process as clear and supportive as possible.
